Hello to all my followers and other Medium readers! I have an exciting announcement: I will be presenting at the Association of Writers & Writing Program’s (AWP) 2022 Conference & Bookfair in Philadelphia, PA this year! The Conference & Bookfair will be held at the Philadelphia Convention Center.

AWP is a nonprofit literary organization founded in 1967 that provides support, advocacy, resources, and community to nearly 50,000 writers, 500 college and university creative writing programs, and 125 writers’ conferences and centers. Per their description, “The AWP Conference & Bookfair is the annual destination for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers of contemporary creative writing. It includes thousands of attendees, hundreds of events and bookfair exhibitors, and four days of essential literary conversation and celebration.” To learn more about the Conference & Bookfair (including how to register), click here!

I will be presenting on Friday, March 25th at 12:10 in 120C. My panel, titled “Total Strangers: Undergrads, Authors, & Editors on Amplifying International Voices” includes myself, Subnivean Fiction Editor Pamela Toussaint, published nonfiction author and student Edward Sourby, visionary poet and Cave Canem graduate fellow Arisa White, and Creative Writing professor and Editor-in-Chief of Subnivean, Soma Mei Sheng Frazier. We will be primarily discussing our work on the literary journal based at SUNY Oswego, Subnivean. Our panel description is as follows:

“How does a group of undergrads who have never met collaborate strategically with far-flung authors and editors to create a publication drawing submissions from writers working in 47 countries (plus 48 US states) in its first six months of existence? This panel — comprised of intergenerational ‘lit nerds’ building global dialogue and community via a digital venue recently recognized as an extraordinary debut magazine by the CLMP — seeks to answer questions of reach, resources, and representation.”

If you are already planning on attending AWP 22, please consider attending our panel! There will be a Q&A session where you can ask myself and other panelists questions about our discussion and work. I know them to be some of the best literary minds around working on one of the most inspiring up-and-coming literary journals of this decade. There is information in the link above for those interested in registering for the conference. Registration includes not just our panel, but all panels across all four days of the conference.

Hope to see you there!
